These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Kin iOS application and related services (the "Service"), provided by Kin Health Ltd ("Kin", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Kin, you agree to these Terms.
Kin is an AI-powered fitness coaching app for iOS. It plans your week, guides your workouts, and adapts your meals through conversation. Kin is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your exercise, nutrition, or health routine.
This section is a binding part of these Terms. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to each of the points below.
General fitness and nutrition information only. Kin provides general fitness and nutrition guidance powered by artificial intelligence. The Service is intended for healthy adults pursuing general fitness goals. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or therapy of any kind, and the people behind Kin are not acting as your doctor, dietitian, registered nutritionist, physiotherapist, physical therapist, psychologist, or any other licensed medical or healthcare professional through the Service.
Not a substitute for professional medical advice. Nothing in the Service — including coaching responses, plans, workouts, recipes, readiness scores, recovery insights, or any other content — is a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, an injury, your diet, or your fitness. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or were told inside Kin.
Consult a clinician before starting. You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting, changing, or stopping any exercise, nutrition, or weight-management program, including any program suggested by Kin. This is especially important if you have, or may have, any medical condition, injury, or concern, or if you are taking medication.
Stop and seek help if something feels wrong. Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you experience pain, dizziness, lightheadedness, faintness, chest tightness or chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath beyond normal exertion, numbness or tingling, blurred vision, severe headache, joint swelling or instability, or any other symptom you find unusual or concerning. If you believe you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not rely on Kin in an emergency.
Readiness scores and recovery insights are estimates. Readiness scores, recovery metrics, sleep insights, HRV-derived signals, and any similar outputs in Kin are estimates based on training load and self-reported data. They are signals to inform training decisions — not medical assessments, diagnoses, or measures of clinical health. A low or high score does not indicate that you are "unwell", "overtrained", or otherwise in any clinical state, and should not be treated as such.
Pre-existing conditions and special populations. If you are pregnant or postpartum, or if you have or have ever had a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, diabetes (type 1 or type 2), a thyroid condition, an eating disorder or any pattern of disordered eating, epilepsy, asthma, an autoimmune condition, cancer or a history of cancer treatment, a recent surgery, a musculoskeletal injury, or any other significant medical condition, you must obtain clearance and individualised guidance from your healthcare provider before relying on any exercise or nutrition information from Kin. Kin's defaults, targets, and suggestions are designed for general use and may not be safe or appropriate for your situation.
Nutrition information is general guidance. All nutrition content in Kin — including calorie estimates, macronutrient targets, recipes, food logs, and meal suggestions — is general educational information for healthy adults. It is not medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and is not a prescription. If you require nutrition guidance for a medical condition (including but not limited to diabetes, kidney disease, gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS or IBD, food allergies, or eating-disorder recovery), you must consult a registered dietitian or your doctor.
No medical claims. Kin does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or reverse any disease or medical condition, and nothing in the Service should be interpreted as making such a claim. The Service is not intended to replace medication or any treatment prescribed by a qualified professional.
Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for how you use the Service, for using your own judgment, for honestly reporting your health status, and for consulting a qualified professional whenever appropriate. By using Kin, you accept the inherent risks of exercise and dietary change, and you agree that you use the Service at your own risk.
You must create an account using Sign in with Apple to use Kin. Authentication sessions are managed through our backend provider, Supabase. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Apple ID linked to your account and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
To provide the Service, your workouts, nutrition entries, profile information, and coaching conversations are stored on your device and synced to our cloud backend (Supabase) so they can be backed up and restored across your devices. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, how we use it, and how to delete it.
Kin uses artificial intelligence — including Anthropic's Claude API for coaching responses and OpenAI's Whisper API for voice transcription — to generate coaching suggestions, plans, and insights. These outputs are informational only and must not be treated as professional medical, fitness, or nutritional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation; you are responsible for using your own judgment and consulting a qualified healthcare professional before acting on them. The health and medical disclaimer above applies in full to all AI-generated content in the Service.
You agree not to misuse the Service, attempt to access it through unauthorised means, interfere with its operation, reverse engineer it, or use it for any unlawful purpose. You agree not to upload content that is illegal, infringing, or harmful to others.
The Kin app, its design, and its content (excluding the data you provide) are owned by Kin Health Ltd and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which will remove your data from our systems as described in the Privacy Policy.
Kin is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kin Health Ltd is not liable for any injuries, health issues, loss of data, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or reliance on AI-generated recommendations. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
